Originally a Connecticut firefighter, he joined the FDNY in 1984 and went on to serve in Rescue 3 and later the NYC Office of Emergency Management under Mayor Rudy Giuliani. He was in 7 World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 and responded to the subsequent terrorist attack.
